Background

It was back in 1976 that the University of Minho first proposed an undergraduate course in the area of Information Technologies. It was a pioneering project that has had important consequences, both in the local socio-economic tissue, as well as the driving force of of a whole scientific and applicational area.
Since then, this project has expanded into several more specific courses, that have proved to have the necessary strength to keep attracting students and employers.

It was upon this stable and prosperous scenario that this re-organisation took place, motivated mainly by the realisation that a monolithic five year learning stage cannot be effective throughout a 40 year working period. It is therefore necessary to offer the possibility that the valid professional may update his technological skills as well as change the focus of his activity within his main core area.

The courses available in this wide area of IT are:

1st Cycle

University core courses

2nd Cycle

Basic graduate studies, providing professional or basic research skills

3rd Cycle

Research
